How do I start the program?
Click Start > Programs > SpySpotter, click on the icon in the system tray (near your system clock), or by using the icon on your desktop.

SCANNING PROCESS QUESTIONS

How do I select places I want to scan?
Click on the Settings tab. Under the Configuration category, place a check next to the item you want to scan.
OR
Right click the SpySpotter icon on the task bar and clicking on Options.

How do I start the scan?
Once locations are selected, to scan, click on the Spyware & Adware tab, click the Scan Now button.

How do I delete detected spyware items?
Once the scan is complete click on Remove Spyware/Adware. All the spyware items will be displayed.
OR
Once the scan is complete click on View Results. The items found will be displayed, place a check next to the items you want to remove then click Remove Spyware/Adware

How do I know that I have the latest Signatures?
SpySpotter will automatically check for new signatures everytime you start SpySpotter. You can also manually update SpySpotter by clicking on the Settings tab, Advanced Settings, and Update.

What is Configuration?
The locations beneath Configuration are the locations you can select to scan. Place a check next to the location you want to scan.

What are Shields?
The memory shield is designed to notify you when spyware is running in the memory. The Active X shield will help to prevent self-downloading of spyware/adware to your machine.

How do I receive updates?
SpySpotter auto-updates whenever you start SpySpotter. You can also manually check for updates by clicking on Update.

Can I set SpySpotter to run automatically?
A schedule can be made to execute a SpySpotter scan by placing a check next to Enable Auto Scan and then selecting date and time.

How can I set SpySpotter to start when the computer is started?
You can set SpySpotter to start at startup by placing a check next to Run at Start-up.

How can I stop my Homepage from being changed?
SpySpotter can help prevent your homepage from being changed. Click on Set Internet Browser Homepage, enter the desired homepage and click apply.

System Defender Tab:

What is System Defender?
System Defender analyzes processes that are running on your computer and gives you the ability to approve or block these processes from running.

How do I know what is running on my computer?
To view current running process click on the System Defender tab then Running Proccesses.

Running Processes:

How do I allow a process to run?
Place a check next to the process name, and click approve. This will place the selected process onto your Approved list and allow the process to run.

How do I deny a process to run?
Place a check next to the process name, and click block. This will place the selected process onto your Blocked list and not allow the process to run

How do I block a process to run if I allowed the processes to run before?
Place a check next to the process name, and click block. This will place the selected process onto your Blocked list and not allow the process to run.

Blocked Processes:

How do I allow a process to run if I blocked the processes from running before?
Place a check next to the process name, and click unblock. This will place the selected process onto your Approved list and will allow the process to run.

Uninstall:

How do I uninstall the SpySpotter program?
To uninstall the program follow these steps:

1. Right click on the SpySpotter icon in the system tray and choose the option CLOSE
(if it's not there, proceed to step two);
2. Click on the Start button;
3. Click on Settings button;
4. Click on Control Panel;
5. Double click on Add and Remove Programs;
6. Find SpySpotter on the list, click it, and then click on Remove to remove SpySpotter

Use of the terms "Spyware ", "Adware " or a derivative means any item that the SpySpotter program defines as such which may include, but is not limited to; Spyware, Adware, tracking cookies and/or other similar items.

SpySpotter may not detect all Spyware or Adware and is limited to the items listed in the SpySpotter database and the capabilities of the program.

Due to the ever-changing nature of Spyware and Adware (many Spyware and Adware makers are constantly trying to beat the ability to detect and remove them), SpySpotter may not be able to remove all Spyware or Adware that is detected. SpySpotter will, from time to time, update its database and/or technology to help keep pace with new Spyware and Adware.
